Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Trust Brave Horizons Network?

Can I trust you? We get it. It’s a valid question.

When you have experienced life inside of a high-control religious group, sometimes it can be very hard to know who you can trust.

We understand the risks and fears that come with leaving and rebuilding.

We understand because we have been there. We have walked through it.

Your safety and well-being always comes first.

Any communication you have with Brave Horizons Network is confidential. Your personal information will never be shared outside of our network without your permission. We take confidentiality very seriously.

If you or someone else is in immediate risk of harm, we may be required by law to notify authorities to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

You are in control of your own story—and we are here to support you with the respect, care, and encouragement, no matter your circumstances.

What if I’m Not Sure if I’m Ready to Leave?

Choosing to leave a high-control religion is a personal choice.

Brave Horizons Network is here to support you, not to push you.

You have the freedom to decide if, when, and how you want to leave.

We have the experience to help you, should you make the choice to go.

Because we have been where you are, we know how complicated and confusing it can be as you decide whether to stay or leave.

You are probably experiencing a mix of emotions as you think about the possibilities of a life outside of the high-control group you grew up in, as well as the practical implications of leaving and building the life you want.

Those of us who have left have all had our own reasons and journeys. Though we share a common experience, we have our own stories.

Your story if yours. If and when you want us to be a part of it, we are here.
