Leaving is hard. You are not alone.

Leaving a high-control religious group can be one of the hardest experiences of your life. One moment, you have a community. Everything is familiar.

The next moment, you are facing the loss of family, friends, and everything you know. It can feel overwhelming, isolating, and frightening when you leave.

At Brave Horizons Network, we want you to know, you are not alone.

We are a safe, supportive community. We are dedicated to helping people heal, connect, and rebuild after leaving high-demand religious environments.

What We Offer

At Brave Horizons Network, we walk alongside you as you rebuild after leaving a high-control group.

Our services include peer support led by fellow survivors, trauma-informed care from qualified mental health professionals, educational resources to help you understand your experiences and heal, and practical experiences for rebuilding your life—the life you choose for yourself with your new freedom.

While some programs are survivor-led and community based, others are delivered by licensed professionals. All are shaped by the real experiences of people who have walked this path you are on.

The Four Pillars of Brave Horizons Network

Brave Horizons Network is built on a foundation of care and confidentiality, and is supported by four pillars which provide the structure and guide our organizations as we aim to help you as your transition into your new life.

The Four Pillars of Brave Horizon Network include:

  • Rebuilding Community

  • Supporting Healing

  • Tools for Understanding & Growth

  • Practical Support & Advocacy

Discover more on each of these four pillars and how we can help you along the way in every step of your journey.

1: Rebuilding Community

Our peer support network connects you with people who truly understand. Through online groups and meetups, you can share your story, ask questions, and build lasting friendships with others who have walked the same path you are on. When leaving feels isolating, you’ll be reminded you aren’t alone.

2: Supporting Healing

We will connect you with licensed mental health professionals who are trained and experienced in working with clients who have religious trauma, complex post traumatic stress disorder (c-PTSD), and anxiety. With qualified care, you will receive the understanding and effective support you need to heal.

3: Tools for Understanding & Growth

Knowledge is empowering. Our survivor-informed resources, including articles, videos, and practical guides, will help you make sense of what you have been through as you process and recover from years of trauma, and as you work to gain the skills you need to build a new life for yourself.

4: Practical Support & Advocacy

Starting over can feel overwhelming. We provide guidance and referrals for housing, work, and education. We also advocate publicly to raise awareness about the challenges survivors face. Together, we work to create understanding, reduce stigma, and make society safer for those leaving high-control groups. Together, we ensure you have the support you need for a successful transition.
